ABOUT
Jess Macc is a multidisciplinary creative with a career spanning over two decades on both sides of the camera. A graduate of The Academy of Film, Theatre and Television (JMC Academy) in Sydney (2007), she also trained as a vocalist under Jennifer Murphy, Head of Musical Theatre at the Australian Institute of Music. Her artistic journey began even earlier, studying dark room photography at Ultimo TAFE (2003) before further honing her craft at the Australian Centre for Photography and the California Center for Digital Arts.
Spending eight years in California profoundly shaped Jess’s creative vision, particularly through portrait photography. She worked with an impressive roster of personalities including Jason Wahler (MTV's The Hills) before her work extended into the sports world, capturing the Professional Fighters League (PFL) at Long Beach Arena, skateboarding legend Christian Hosoi (VANS) and Olympian Rachael Adams (Team USA Volleyball), although one of her proudest achievements is having her work displayed at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.
In Australia, Jess has collaborated with ARIA, Rolling Stone AUS/NZ, Universal Music and Support Act, as well as photographing some of the country’s most celebrated musicians, including Kasey Chambers, The Veronicas, Vera Blue, Ben Lee, Casey Donovan, Tania Doko, Baker Boy, Peach PRC, Budjerah and Troy Cassar-Daley.
Beyond commercial projects, Jess is passionate about using her skills to support mental health and not-for-profit organisations, most recently with the release of her first portrait series Outside In which she created, developed and produced with Hustle Media.
Since returning to Sydney in 2020, Jess has been expanding her creative pursuits. In 2025, she will release new music and launch Macc n Cheese, a podcast dedicated to conversations with creatives about their journeys and what it takes to build a successful creative life.
